Throughout the webinar, I'll share my knowledge and show examples of my work and campaigns I've worked on with local government officers and people in our community.  Through social media we have the chance to change people's perspectives, we should always use this power for good!

It is important to be mindful of the accessibility of your content and how it is delivered and to remember it is always about the people and the culture.

  • Goals and objectives of the 'Our People' campaign - changing the perspectives of the community towards the Council and local government
  • Campaign methods and content types - highlighting Council projects, staff and community through videography and photography

About the Presenter:

Kylie is Horowhenua District Council's Social Media Advisor, responsible for all social media communications.  She advises a team who assist in managing 14 pages across four platforms.  Since starting with Council in 2017, Kylie has increased (mostly organically) engagement and reach by over 200% and doubled their followers on the Horowhenua District Council Facebook page.  Kylie has introduced two successful video campaigns and worked closely with staff and members of the community.  This has included local schools to create content which she films, writes scripts for, and edits herself.  Kylie is passionate about creating innovative storytelling methods which engage her community and brings excitement to what can otherwise be, boring topics!
