This webinar will be presented by two well-known archivists; Evan Greensides, President of ARANZ and Senior Archivist at Archives Central and Gareth Winter, historian and former Archivist at the Wairarapa Archive. Evan and Gareth will discuss the challenges, realities and opportunities facing local archives. Evan in an advisory capacity and Gareth as a custodian of the local history.


About the Presenters:

Evan Greensides
Senior Archivist, Archives Central 


Evan is the Senior Archivist at Archives Central in Feilding. He is also the President and Branch Liaison of Archives and Records Association of New Zealand (ARANZ), as well as Secretary for the local Central Districts Branch. He was the lead on the Palmerston North Poppy Places project, creating over 30 research articles on the naming of local streets. He has worked in the GLAMR sector for over a decade in archives, libraries and museums. 



Gareth Winter
Former Archivist, Wairarapa Archive


Gareth was the District Archivist at the Wairarapa Archive for 24 years, retiring in April 2021. He has written over a dozen books, hundreds of newspaper articles, and delivered many speeches. He was awarded the QSM in the Queens Birthday Honours last year, and is currently serving his second term on the Archives Council.
