ALGIM Secures New Global Training Partnership for Members

ALGIM is pleased to announce a new partnership with ZIGURAT Global Institute of Technology, creating a valuable opportunity for members to access world class training and professional development in areas directly relevant to local government.

ZIGURAT is an internationally recognised provider of postgraduate education specialising in digital transformation, engineering, infrastructure, and emerging technology disciplines. These areas are increasingly important as councils respond to growing expectations around service delivery, asset management, and digital capability.

What this means for councils

Through this partnership, ALGIM members and their staff will have access to a range of practical development opportunities designed to support capability growth across the sector.

Key benefits include:

• Access to postgraduate and specialist courses with preferential pricing for ALGIM members
• Opportunities to attend technical webinars, seminars and industry sessions on emerging trends
• Access to an international talent and alumni network for recruitment and collaboration
• Tailored training options that can be aligned to individual council priorities
• Opportunities for staff to engage in global knowledge sharing and professional development

Importantly, this partnership has been structured so there is no financial commitment required from ALGIM or its members at a participation level. Councils can choose how and when to engage based on their own workforce needs.

Supporting sector capability

Local government continues to face increasing complexity in areas such as digital service delivery, infrastructure planning, data management, and organizational transformation. This partnership provides a practical way for councils to strengthen internal capability in these areas.

It also supports:

• Workforce development and retention through structured learning pathways
• Exposure to international best practice and innovation
• Access to specialist knowledge that may not be readily available within New Zealand
• Stronger connections between councils and global industry expertise

Looking ahead

Over the coming months, ALGIM will share further information on available programm, upcoming webinars, and how members can access the benefits of this partnership.

Councils are encouraged to consider how this opportunity could support their strategic goals, workforce plans, and ongoing investment in digital and infrastructure capability.
