This intermediate course is designed for IM practitioners who have responsibility for their local authority or community archives, but who don’t have a background in archives management. Many local authorities don't have dedicated archivists, and/or the archives are supported as part of the overarching information and records management function. It is expected all participants will already have a foundation in information management.

The course complements the material provided in the ALGIM IM Toolkit module BP04 Local Authority Archives and covers the management of both physical and digital archive collections.  Each module is delivered online with its own workbook which is sent out to participants beforehand. There is also a small amount of homework between modules to support learning.

Designed for: Those that have responsibility for local authority archives and have bene working in the IM or archival roles for several years. This is an intermediate level course.

Method: 7 online modules of 90 minutes each.

Pre-requisites: completion of the Introducing Information Management for Local Authorities course, or equivalent experience.
