We have heard much about AI and its' potential impacts on local government and the world.  So, what has ALGIM been doing about AI?

  • We wrote an AI policy for local government which was one of the first for the sector globally and was adopted by UK local government.
  • We have held at least five webinars on AI from cyber threats to practical examples. All these have been recorded so we encourage you to watch these if you have time. The latest last week, was live to a UK council who, with a team of three and a focus on their community using AI to make the council's services more accessible, produced a return on investment of 6.3m% - WOW.
  • ALGIM has presented on AI in local government to a range of audiences lately and has been invited to address the leadership teams of a further four councils.
  • ALGIM will soon be providing online training for Microsoft Copilot and other products such as Microsoft Loop.
  • Finally, we have prepared a video for the public to remove the fear of AI, and will make this freely available to all councils, and in particular to all public libraries in the next couple of weeks.

We can't ignore AI technology but we can be better prepared and learn from others.

ALGIM are here to support our members on your AI journey.
